What is a TPA?
TPA stands for Third Party Administrator. Similar to having an
accountant do your taxes, a TPA assists you with managing your
workers’ compensation claims.
What is a MCO?
MCO stands for Managed Care Organization. Your MCO is responsible
for the medical management of the injured worker. Though MCO open-enrollment
takes place every two years, the BWC will pick a MCO for you if
you don’t pick one. You do not pay your MCO directly. They are
paid by the state when you pay your premiums.
What can I do to lower my rates?
First and foremost, actively participate in your claims! If you
are penalty rated due to large cost claims, the BWC offers multiple
programs you can participate in: Drug Free Workplace, One Claim
Program, Premium Discount Program +, and Transitional WorkGRANT$.

What is a group rating program?
Group rating is an alternative
rating program to help employers lower their premiums. Small employers
can group together as one entity for the purpose of reporting
payroll. As a larger group, your premium payment is then reduced.
Groups are formed by trade or sponsoring organizations, and companies
in the group have a similar purpose.
What do I do when one of my employee's is injured?
We recommend you have the employee fill out an incident report
and ask the injured worker to get copies of any medical findings
after they have visited a doctor. Fax the paperwork to your MCO
and Compensation Control at 330-996-5221. Don’t know who your
MCO is? Have your policy number handy and look it up online at
